Scholars such as <strong data-start=\"510\" data-end=\"522\">Shokoohi<\/strong>, <strong data-start=\"524\" data-end=\"538\">Zamorshidi<\/strong>, <strong data-start=\"540\" data-end=\"549\">Anisi<\/strong>, and <strong data-start=\"555\" data-end=\"565\">Nikzad<\/strong> have dated the structure to between the <strong data-start=\"606\" data-end=\"657\">1st and 3rd centuries AH (7th\u20139th centuries CE)<\/strong>. Researcher <strong data-start=\"670\" data-end=\"681\">Alfieri<\/strong>, drawing architectural parallels with the Great Mosque of <strong data-start=\"740\" data-end=\"751\">Samarra<\/strong>, suggests a slightly later origin, in the <strong data-start=\"794\" data-end=\"825\">3rd or early 4th century AH<\/strong>. Shokoohi also associates the mosque&#8217;s design with the <strong data-start=\"881\" data-end=\"900\">Ukhaidir Palace<\/strong>, indicating a possible <strong data-start=\"924\" data-end=\"942\">2nd-century AH<\/strong> foundation.<\/p><h3 class=\"\" data-start=\"956\" data-end=\"999\"><strong data-start=\"960\" data-end=\"999\">Architectural and Artistic Features<\/strong><\/h3><p class=\"\" data-start=\"1001\" data-end=\"1477\">The mosque is famed for its <strong data-start=\"1029\" data-end=\"1054\">hypostyle prayer hall<\/strong>, reminiscent of <strong data-start=\"1071\" data-end=\"1108\">Sasanian architectural traditions<\/strong>. This includes the use of <strong data-start=\"1135\" data-end=\"1157\">large adobe bricks<\/strong>, <strong data-start=\"1159\" data-end=\"1195\">vaulted nave roofs (Taq-e Ahang)<\/strong>, <strong data-start=\"1197\" data-end=\"1217\">domed side iwans<\/strong>, and <strong data-start=\"1223\" data-end=\"1259\">Sasanian-style ornamental motifs<\/strong>, including <strong data-start=\"1271\" data-end=\"1363\">red-colored reliefs depicting symbolic \u201cdoors to paradise\u201d and a mihrab with a sun motif<\/strong>. These elements highlight the <strong data-start=\"1394\" data-end=\"1417\">transitional period<\/strong> between pre-Islamic and early Islamic architecture in Iran.<\/p><p class=\"\" data-start=\"1479\" data-end=\"1863\">Pirnia recounts his discovery of the mosque in a 1970 article, describing how a <strong data-start=\"1559\" data-end=\"1579\">mudbrick minaret<\/strong> caught his attention in the desert. Upon entering the mosque, he was struck by the building\u2019s unaltered Sasanian features and urged locals to <strong data-start=\"1722\" data-end=\"1734\">preserve<\/strong> rather than replace the aging structure.
