As we get closer to the Islamic and contemporary periods, the dimensions and thickness of the bricks become smaller. For example, if in the Qajar period the dimensions of the bricks were 20 by 20 with a thickness of 5 centimeters, in the Fahraj Grand Mosque the dimensions of the bricks are 38 by 38 with a thickness of 7 or 8 centimeters, which indicates the very high age of the building.”

Falahati, Deputy Director of Cultural Heritage at the General Directorate of Cultural Heritage, Tourism and Handicrafts of the province, tells me with a deep look at the brick walls of the mosque: The participation of the villagers and the existence of a popular and local board of trustees have been very effective in preserving and maintaining the Fahraj Grand Mosque. Fortunately, this mosque has been given the attention of the people and officials, and with the attention to cultural heritage, future funds have also been foreseen for its maintenance and care.

Full report👇
imna.ir/x9DCM

Art and Faith in the Heart of Iran’s Most Brick Masterpiece In the heart of the Yazd desert, the Fahraj Grand Mosque has stood for over a thousand years, a genuine brick building that is not only a witness to Iran’s ancient history, but also a symbol of the love and patriotism of the people …

Following in the footsteps of history at the Fahraj Grand Mosque in Yazd Read More »

[3

post-17194","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-news
["GET
