Tree Planting and Desert Ecosystem Restoration Campaign Held in Fahraj with the Planting of “Parishan” and “Majnoon” Species

Continuing the annual tradition of the Fahraj local community to promote tree planting and honor nature, the “Tree Planting and Restoration of Fahraj Desert Ecosystem” campaign was held with enthusiastic participation from students, local officials, and environmental enthusiasts.
During the event, 1,200 seedlings of resilient species — known locally as Parishan and Majnoon — were planted in the desert areas surrounding the village.

These plant species are well adapted to the hot and arid desert climate and play a crucial role in combating soil erosion, reducing the impacts of sandstorms, and preserving the land’s natural moisture.
The aim of the campaign is to gradually restore the region’s native ecosystem by utilizing plant species that are fully compatible with Fahraj’s environmental conditions.

One of the significant actions of this campaign was the marking of the access roads leading to Fahraj’s desert camps, which are among the village’s main tourist attractions. These camps, due to the region’s unique climatic conditions, are often exposed to natural threats such as flash floods and strong winds. By planting these shrubs along the roadsides, the campaign aims to enhance road stability and reduce potential natural damages.

Using this natural vegetation as an alternative to conventional erosion control methods is considered a climate-adaptive and locally-based approach that could serve as a model for environmental conservation in similar regions.

This campaign not only marks a step toward nature restoration but also symbolizes the enduring spirit of responsibility and solidarity within the local community in safeguarding the precious desert ecosystem of Fahraj.
