Sobh-e-Rosieh (The Blackened Morning)

On the day of Ashura, before sunrise, the elders of the village gather the people by beating drums and blowing trumpets, calling them to the old Grand Hosseinieh. They then ascend to the rooftop of the Hosseinieh and recite elegies such as:
*”O blackened morning, how will you turn white? Today, thirsty Hussein will be martyred.”*
After sunrise, the mourning ceremonies begin and continue until noon on the Day of Ashura at the Shohada (Martyrs’) area.
This ceremony was inscribed in the National Intangible Cultural Heritage List of Iran in Mordad 1403 (July–August 2024).
